Awakening Africa, one reader at a time.
For over a decade, Living Through Learning has built Reading Adventure Rooms, trained foundation phase educators, and put the joy of reading at the centre of South African primary schools.

Seven programmes, one mission: every child reading with meaning.
Reading Adventure Rooms
Dedicated, vibrantly resourced rooms inside partner schools where Grade R-3 learners discover phonics through Words in Colour.
Educator Training & Forums
Practical professional development workshops on Words in Colour, classroom management, learning barriers and literacy intervention design.
Achiever's Programme
High-school maths and revision support combined with mentorship, opening tertiary doors for learners with high potential.
Digital Literacy Hub
Daily-rotation tablet labs in partner schools that complement the LTL workbook curriculum with literacy games and e-books.
Capsule Classroom Transformation
Whole-classroom upgrades that turn bare rooms into purpose-built literacy spaces with furniture, light, and learning walls.
ACSA Literacy Action Rooms
Airport-funded literacy rooms delivering the LTL phonics curriculum in structured, engaging form inside partner schools.

35 years of putting reading at the centre of foundation phase learning.
Every child is a national asset. Living Through Learning was founded on that belief and on the conviction that foundation phase literacy is the single highest-leverage intervention in South African education.
We use Caleb Gattegno's Words in Colour methodology, a colour-coded phonics system that shortens the path to fluent, confident reading. Paired with educator training and capsule classroom transformations, it is a model with three decades of evidence behind it.
The educators and learners we serve.
The children have beautiful handwriting now and they take more pride in their work. They also understand maths better because their language skills improved.
